As we dive headfirst into the whirlwind of summer activities, it’s easy to get caught up in the chaos of everyday life. Today, I want to share some eco-friendly tips for a sustainable spring clean that won’t add extra stress to our already-packed schedules. Let’s tackle this together, one green cleaning hack at a time!
With kids running around, the last thing we want is to expose them to harmful chemicals lurking in traditional cleaning products. Recently I got the case of the sustainability bug, and have spent time looking up the ingredients in my everyday products (it’s a hard pill to swallow).
I have found a few eco-friendly alternatives that are gentle on the environment and safe for my family. One of the biggest switches has been these garbage bags and this Meliora detergent. In general, look for labels that say “biodegradable” and “non-toxic” when shopping for cleaners, or better yet, whip up your own DIY solutions using pantry staples like vinegar and baking soda. Trust me, it’s easier than it sounds!
Between spills and messes, it feels like I’m constantly reaching for paper towels and disposable wipes. But lately, I’ve been making a conscious effort to switch to reusable cleaning tools. Investing in quality microfiber cloths and washable mop pads not only saves money in the long run but also reduces unnecessary waste. Plus, it’s one less thing on my shopping list – win-win!
With five kids, our house can get a little…well, let’s just say it has its own unique scent. Instead of reaching for commercial air fresheners filled with synthetic fragrances, I opt for natural alternatives like essential oils. Not only do they freshen up the house, but they also add a cozy vibe that makes it feel like home.
Personally, I love when I get a chance to do a satisfying clean. Unfortunately, I usually don’t get to it until my body battery is at a full zero. I love using our deep clean services to get the fine details of my home clean, and make it easier to focus on the daily clutter. This mixed with bags of stuff for the donation bins, I feel like a whole new woman walking into summer.
From choosing non-toxic cleaners to embracing reusable tools and conserving water, these small changes add up to make a big impact on our families’ health and the health of the planet. I Hope your May is full of sunshine, smiles, and short to-do lists. Got questions? Check out our FAQ’s list or get a free quote for your home.
With Love, Ashley Bender
